Default Luck Title new tier?

Was reading that the luck title track max tier was increased, it is no longer "Golden" as max, but there seems to be a new 'unconfirmed' tier at 2.5 million tickets won. I mean the amount of time invested to get 1 million points is a lot, especially when compared to the small bonus you recieve to retain lockpicks with the title. Calculations using odds place gaining 1 million points on 9 rings at 3600 hours, which by far is the quickest route to this title. At the same time, Boardwalk games aren't offered often enough to make this even feasible. With all this said...... is it just me, or does this seem like an EXTREMELY insane increase?

At the risk of sounding trite or cliche, I'd say these continuing updates that we've been getting are aimed at one type of person:

Grindey McGrinderson from Grindesville, Grindlahoma.

I solo farm and even I DON'T have the patience for that kind of crap. I've said it before, but the shift in focus from play to title grinding IMHO is a tactic designed to get people to buy the expansion (Hall of Monuments) which leads into a sequel purchase.

The logic must be: after spending all that time, are you really going to not continue, having done all that in vain?

Personally, yes. In fact, after the last series of updates, between the farming nerf, soul reaping nerf and others, I find myself perusing more forums and just chatting to guildmates in game, while my toon stands there doing nothing. Its very difficult for me to muster the desire anymore to actually PLAY the game.

So unless the game's direction is taken more to a fun tack rather than hook the public with BS titles tack (I mean how many are there now, 20+? and most being character specific... grind grind grind), I'll be moving on.

Sad to see ANet falling into the same pattern as Battle.Net.

keep in mind that every time you retain a key now, you get 250 lucky points.... geting points this way will mean opening alot of HM chests, which is going to up your tresure hunter - and the more you increase both of these titles the more picks you retain.... chest running is now probly the most efficent way to increase both titles now. and the more you do it, the more picks your going to retain and the faster the title will go up

I think the effort for some of the titles is just crazy. I think it's a really bad idea to go and buy several hundred k worth of tickets and then just sit then and afk for hours as they slowly drain away...for what? a 2% better chance to retain lockpicks? So far the best way I've found is to run around early areas of the game on normal and open up chests. You've got a better then 65 chance to get 250 luck...much better then standing around on a circle.

No proof, then it's not real.

Absolutely no one in the game has Golden, the boardwalk has not been open long enough for that.

Unless another tier has been stated to exist by an Anet employee or seen by many people on a test server, don't believe unfounded rumors like this.

Adding more tiers would be extremely stupid anyhow. Many people sunk huge amounts of gold into this knowing it would max out at tier 5. To change that on them after they are already out 500k+ would be very dirty pool.

If you wanna get lucky title from lockpicks.try it on normal mode since you got base chance to retain lockpick by 40%.But even the R1 lucky title still need to open 200 chests to acquire the first tier of Lucky title.

I disagree with that. Prove it. Post a screenshot of the next tier or link to one.

I have a thread in the Q&A forum on the same subject. It doesn't make any sense at all for them to raise the max on this. The only logical excuse to to make lock picks last longer, but getting lucky titles to get 3% better chance of retaining a lock pick is like buying an apartment building so you don't have to pay the rent.

P.S. The insane amount of time just to get to Golden is ridiculous. And for them to up Golden by 150% to get to the next rank is crazy. (1,000,000 to 2,500,000 tickets won )

true, but even durring an event weekend you're not participateing 24/7.. you're away from the computer while you sleap, durring gameing breaks, posibly meals, etc etc etc - might as well buy up enough tickets to afk while your gone and get yourself that much closer.

today i had to run a few erands and left it afking for a little more then an hour and picked up 5k twards the title - that's 20 chests i didn't have to open. the title may not be worth much effort, but leaveing it run while you're off haveing wet dreams isn't much of an effort.

The screenshot is from ATS servers not the live ones. They also have rank 4 of KOABD that doesn't exists on live ones at the moment.

Mainly I am looking for proof of the increased tier, and to also hear what others think about the "carrot dangling in front of you" addition to titles.

And Hopefully, Anet will run across this and get an idea of what the players think.

Personally, if it comes down to dangling a carrot in my face and keep moving it further away, Anet will effectively be getting the same treatment when it comes to GW2..... I'll dangle my dollars in front of their faces, but they aren't getting them!

The way titles are structured in general is very stupid.

The titles follow an exponential track of 2x or 5x or 10x where each successive level requires a hugely larger time investment than the entire title track up to that point. When level 5 requires five times as much commitment as levels 1 2 3 and 4 combined, that's grind.

So I agree with the earlier poster, the titles are very grindy.

I agree with you, Knight of Avalon. Many people decided to bother getting these titles and wasting huge amounts of gold & time & energy on them because they knew they'd eventually be able to afford to max them out @1 mill total. For Anet to add tiers without warning and for no reason to not make them not be maxable without 2 mill or 3 mill or more (not to mention if the Boardwalk will even ever be open long enough to max new tiers...) would be a huge injustice to everyone who chose to invest and thereby waste their gold based on the knowledge that there were only 5 tiers and a 1 mill investment total.

What they should do for sure is give more information about titles.
What titles are there, what's the max rank, how much is needed for each rank, etc.
To get golden you need 290 hours on 9 rings. That's 12 days 24/7 and will costs you 880k. (yeah, i rounded the numbers a bit). Everybody assumed golden was max and now there seems to be a higher rank and you won't even be half way when you get golden.
That they thought the title was too easy to get and increased it simply sux. If they want to get on that path they should have just created a new title making that one harder to obtain.

If you did all the events you should/could be able to have the golden title around this time. I myself am on 927k lucky and 66k unlucky, so i will reach golden soon.

I also think that they are messing the titles up with the event items. Like the golden eggs adding up for treasure hunter and lockpicks for lucky/unlucky...
What's next? An item that adds 1% to your cartho title?!?!? Why not just give away the titles...
Events are nice, but they shouldn't influence already existing titles! Introduce new titles for that!

except for sweet and drunkard, but still, that takes a horrible amount of time to do, it dosnt envolve skill, but who has the hook ups to the recourses .

This is possible if you afk/rich on the times you do have boardwalk games in the corner of 9 rings. Its also possible if you do lock pick hard mode chest farming and get key back...so yea it is

You've got my vote on that one. I'm tired of dangling carrots.
